Dear All
I have written previously with some notes on Psalm 139, and I have since seen something which I hope will bless you all- what a GREAT and loving heavenly Father we have!
I have been reading this Psalm fairly regularly for quite a while. There is as you know some lovely words of comfort. Sometimes, I think it probably happens to us all, we read over something without realising what it is saying. I know a lot of this Psalm by heart now and when I have difficulty sleeping I sometimes recite it or what I remember of Isaiah 53 in my head.
I was reciting Psalm 139 in my head and came to the part of the verse – “if I make my bed in hell”. I thought, does it really say that, or have I got it wrong?, 'if I make my bed'! I must check. So of course later I checked. Yes, it says 'If I make MY bed'!
The world has a not so nice saying, 'Well, they made their bed, they have to lie in it'. In other words, as we know, would be translated as, rather unkindly 'It's their own fault, now they have to put up with the consequences of it'.
NOT SO, WITH THE LORD
If we look to Him, He is always there to help us 'OUT' or through. We just need to come to Him in humility recognising our Inability and His Ability. He will teach us, and cause us to grow in circumstances. Of course, it's always better to keep out of a 'jam', but sometimes we find ourselves in a jam and wonder how we got there! Maybe I'm the only one!
(Psalms 139:8 KJV) “If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there”: - (Of course, expected)
“if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou (art there)”. - (Not expected). BUT He is there with us.
If one reads the whole Psalm it appears to me as though the psalmist is saying, NO MATTER WHAT I DO, OR WHERE I GO YOU ARE THERE. And, in this case, even if it was my own fault - behold YOU.
So, this message is saying 'If I get myself in a mess, He is still there to help and guide me out'. What a huge comfort, because sometimes, thinking to do right we can get it wrong and beat ourselves up and others may also be ready to accuse.
The Lord does NOT accuse us.
Correction and accusation are completely different - correction is by nature - teaching. Accusation is condemnation and says expect judgement.
(Romans 8:33-34 KJV) “Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.”
Psalm 139 v 1-12 a huge comfort in any circumstance we find ourselves in -
HE'S THERE - WE ARE BESIEGED BY LOVE
(Psalms 139:7 - 12 KJV) “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou (art there).
If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.”
(Psalms 139:17-18 KJV) “How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.”
After all the troubles, in the 'morning' out of the darkness, 'when I awake, I am still with Thee' He has not gone anywhere, and I am still with Him.
(Romans 8:32 KJV) “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
PRAISE THE LORD, THERE IS NONE LIKE HIM
I hope that you have found these notes a blessing.
Love in Jesus

You can tell by my notes that I have known a few 'fixes', but I am getting to know the 'Fixer' better!
